Love Letters to a Serial Killer by Tasha Coryell is a compelling mix of dark humor, obsession, and unsettling introspection. The novel follows Hannah, a woman who begins writing letters to William, who is on trail for killing 4 women. What starts as a curious fascination spirals into a bizarre and complex relationship where Hannah finds herself drawn into William's world. Coryell expertly balances the grim reality of serial murder with an ironic, almost satirical tone, making the story both disturbing and oddly engaging.Coryell’s writing shines in how it explores Hannah's psychological descent, blending elements of romance, horror, and absurdity. The novel asks challenging questions about morality, power dynamics, and the human tendency to seek connection—even in the most dangerous and irrational places. Hannah's letters reveal her deepening infatuation, but also her own internal struggles and loneliness, making her both relatable and unsettling at the same time. While the subject matter may not be for everyone, the novel offers an insightful critique of society's fascination with killers, particularly how women can be drawn to such dangerous figures. Love Letters to a Serial Killer is a sharp, thought-provoking read that lingers long after it ends, perfect for fans of dark, psychological fiction.*An aimless young woman starts writing to an accused serial killer while he awaits trial and then, once he’s acquitted, decides to move in with him and take the investigation into her own hands in this dark and irresistibly compelling debut thriller.*

In "Horror Movie" by Paul Tremblay, the author masterfully weaves a chilling narrative that blurs the lines between reality and fiction. The story follows a group of group of young guerilla filmmakers spent four weeks making Horror Movie, a notorious, disturbing, art-house horror flick. Set in June of 1993.The weird part?Only three of the film’s scenes were ever released to the public, but Horror Movie has nevertheless grown a rabid fanbase. Three decades later, Hollywood is pushing for a big budget reboot. The man who played “The Thin Kid” is the only surviving cast member. He remembers all too well the secrets buried within the original screenplay, the bizarre events of the filming, and the dangerous crossed lines on set that resulted in tragedy. As memories flood back in, the boundaries between reality and film, past and present start to blur. But he’s going to help remake the film, even if it means navigating a world of cynical producers, egomaniacal directors, and surreal fan conventions — demons of the past be damned. Tremblay's writing is atmospheric and tense, crafting a sense of unease that propels the reader through the pages. The characters are well-developed and relatable, making their descent into terror all the more believable and unsettling. The novel's central theme of the power of storytelling and the blurring of reality and fiction is expertly explored. Tremblay cleverly subverts traditional horror tropes, creating a sense of unpredictability that keeps the reader on edge.Overall, "Horror Movie" is a gripping and unsettling read that will appeal to fans of psychological horror and suspense. With its clever plotting, atmospheric setting, and exploration of the darker side of human nature, this novel is sure to leave readers sleeping with the lights on.

The Death Watcher - Chris CarterWhen a routine autopsy on what looked like a straightforward hit-and-runleads the LA Chief Medical Examiner, Dr Carolyn Hove, to discover some puzzling inconsistencies, she calls in Detective Robert Hunter of the LAPD Ultra Violent Crimes Unit. Not only did Dr Hove discover that the death wasn’t caused by a hit-and-run, but she also found indications that the victim had been severely tortured prior to death. What no one realises is that what Dr Hove has stumbled upon is just the tip of the iceberg and it will lead Hunter and his partner, Carlos Garcia, on the trail of a twisted and clever killer who hides in plain sight. A serial killer no one even knew existed – a killer who has always operated under the radar, expertly disguising every gruesome murder as an accidental death. But with no leads as to why the victim was targeted, the investigation comes to a standstill, until another body is discovered with an alternative cause of death. What becomes clear is that this serial killer isn’t going to stop – unless Hunter and Garcia can get to him. But how do you investigate a murder when you have no victims? How do you catch a killer who leaves behind no crime scene? How do you stop a ghost who no one can prove even exists? ***Everyone knows by now that Chris Carter is by far my favorite thriller writer and that I read all of his books and never have one ever disappointed me. This was such an interesting read and I did not see the twist near the end!!!! But is was soooo good. Again the writing and read is great, the writing flows and the reading is easy and it just keeps pulling your attention. There is never such a thing as just one more chapter with Chris Carter because you just cannot stop reading. The plot was intriguing and the pace of the book just keeps you wanting more.

How To Age Disgracefully - Clare PooleyA senior citizens’ center and a daycare collide with hilarious results in the new ensemble comedy from New York Times- bestselling author Clare PooleyWhen Lydia takes a job running the Senior Citizens’ Social Club three afternoons a week, she assumes she’ll be spending her time drinking tea and playing gentle games of cards. The members of the Social Club, however, are not at all what Lydia was expecting. From Art, a failed actor turned kleptomaniac to Daphne, who has been hiding from her dark past for decades to Ruby, a Banksy-style knitter who gets revenge in yarn, these seniors look deceptively benign—but when age makes you invisible, secrets are so much easier to hide. When the city council threatens to sell the doomed community center building, the members of the Social Club join forces with their tiny friends in the daycare next door—as well as the teenaged father of one of the toddlers and a geriatric dog—to save the building. Together, this group’s unorthodox methods may actually work, as long as the police don’t catch up with them first.***What a read! This was such a fun and funny read! Every woman should inspire to be like Daphne. I'm an old soul and my old soul is exactly like Daphne. I love her! This friend group is just perfect and funny. The story also starts with a bang... And it fits perfectly. The prolog and first chapter will have you smiling with a WTF just happened face...Looking for a funny feel good book? MaybeLooking for a funny WTF book? Definitely
